Hello everyone! I'll be debuting VICIdial in a small 8-seat start-up operation and I would like to know what are the recommended specs for the computers agents will be using to run VICIdial... Amount of ram, processor speed, oh and what internet speed is recommended???
Thank you from Managua, Nicaragua!
Best Regards.

Practically anything that can run a web browser. Most of the people I see run theirs off of:
2gz Pentium 4D
1GB of Ram
Windows XP/Linux Depending on the users needs.
40-80GB HDD
That should do you absolutely just fine.
As far as internet speed that all depends on how you have your servers setup. Are you accessing them remotely or hosting them inhouse? Are you running voip trunking or having trunks/lines brought in? What codec will you be using?

Thanks for the info Acidshock! We will be using an in-house server and we will be using VOIP trunking... As far as the codec goes, which do you recommend? Will G.729 suffice?

codec is determined by processor power and bandwidth combined.
remember that your soft phones and the server (if in the same building) do not need compression between them at all as there is virtually unlimited bandwidth locally. Which means the soft phones likely do not need g729 at all (which is good if you are using free ones, as they do not have g729).
If you have enough bandwidth to handle all your calls without compression, don't use it. g729 and all other compression methods use a lot of cpu. But if you must compress, because bandwidth is expensive, g729 is not the only option. GSM is also available (and free!). If you calculate 100K per call for ulaw (uncompressed, g711) and 75k for GSM and 50k for g729 you'll have "breathing room" as all those numbers are technically higher than the theoretical values you should experience in real time (although 100k for ulaw has been fairly close to accurate).
