Some time ago Matt was recommending asterisk 1.2 over 1.4 for stability issues. My question is: does it still make sense to use 1.2 today? What is the recommended version, now? In particular I was a bit surprised to see that the latest version of vicidialnow, 1.1rc2, includes asterisk 1.2.
Thanks! Leo

For most large installations we still recommend 1.2.27(we have not fully tested 1.2.28.1 yet). But 1.4.20.1 is in use at a few installations and appears to be pretty stable. Since we have 1.2.27 in place at dozens of companies and it is very solid we are not in a hurry to move everything to the 1.4 tree of Asterisk.

I usually stick with the releases because they are tested before release. There have been problems with SVN mid-release versions in the past.

Ok thanks, by the way I was reading the scratch install and it said that 1.2.24 is the one recommended, now that youve mentioned 1.2.27 is solid is it now time to replace the 1.2.24 version to this 1.2.27 version of asterisk as you mentioned?

Other than security fixes, there really isn't much diference between the two releases. If you are on an internal network there is really no reason to upgrade.
