Ghost Users

I have a user, who can login. And be part of a inbound group, and receive calls. On her script, the dialer even reads --a--user--b-- and puts her name in there without issue.

When I go to Shower Users, there is no user
When I click on show all users, there is no user
When I run user stats and type in the user name I get this, "This user does not exist: |jesus|agent050|"

However, keep in mind that she is able to login, and use the system like any other person.

Have you checked User Group settings and what exactly the user values are in the DB?

Her Group has Also Disappeared.

I don't know really proper way to post that. I am also going to attempt to restart the server see if that makes a change.

So I would just like to add some notes on a solution to what I have discovered.

I logged into the database back end, and of course could see my ghost users and groups. I removed the one user, and removed the group. I then recreated the group (Same Name) and noticed that two other users who were part of that group reappeared on the ViciDial Admin Web Interface. Makes me wonder if that user would have popped back up as well. However, I will just recreate her account all the same. One thing though prior to doing this, I was able to find her clicking on who was logged into a specific ingroup, but with not view able stats or recordings.

So this is sort of a fix? Or a fix to my problem.

User group permission issues can cause what you described, so yes that's probably the fix.

You were likely unable to view that group (the user you were logged in as). Even the 6666 user can be locked out if someone alters your permissions (or your user group permissions). It is actually best NOT to use this user (or its group) for anything. Log in as someone else and only have your "IT guy" log in as that user for maintenance (since that user, properly preserved as ALL ACCESS). I've had several clients lock themselves out of various areas by modifying group and/or user permissions.

Excellent response William. As I am this "I.T." Guy, I think this was a strange anomaly in this system. I checked all permissions several times. It took me removing the groups from mysql by hand.

Been there a few times myself. Even had a couple times when a sql dump from new and old entries didn't show a difference and it stumped me ... but on a couple occasions it was "NULL" instead of a 'blank' entry. In MOST cases, however, there is an actual mistake in configuration for the user or group that becomes invisible (because you're locked out ...). As long as you're capable of phpMyAdmin or direct mysql modifications you can get yourself out of it, though.

Build a virtual vicidial NOW with a "restore" of this system in it for playtime (and theft of table records when necessary). Makes a great sandbox for development and mistakes before making them live. Works well with ONE agent for testing, too.
