Greetings to All! I am setting up a new cluster of beautiful servers (migrating from 9 servers to 4 beasts hehe) so upon this new hardware I decided to download the latest and greatest vicibox installer (4.0.3 standard) and give er a whirl! Upon install on multiple servers, I noticed a constant issue involving crontab not loading and suse firewall custom scripts (picture below)
32/64 bit standard install for 4.0.3 on 3 different Dell servers (<32-bit>2650/<64-bit>2950/<64-bit>R900) all give me this script issue:

and still does not install crontab >> after master MySql setup, it states "/tmp/rootcron":44: premature EOF
errors in crontab file, cant' install...
I am re-installing again with failsafe install this time (to test to see if something in the initial OS install screwed up) I will repost specs once the initial DB installs!

verify your .iso image with the .MD5 file. verify your CD image with the option to do so with your cd burner.

I am also getting the same error while installing the 4.0.3 version (64). My iso file and the CD matching the MD5 file.

Can you post your partitioning? Perhaps you created a partition incorrectly and the system just ran out of space?

Otherwise, I'd have to see it to find out what the problem is (unlikely unless you have a remote kvm card in the server). Or Kumba (who created the .iso ..) may have some insight.

I am not manually creating the partition using the system default partition . Please find the details below

I'm assuming you designed the partition schema.

Try it again without the "specialness". Crypt files and RAID could well be confusing the system. use the Recommended method of a stock Linux hard drive and see if that does the trick. one large partition (missing a chunk for the swap drive only, although having another small chunk for the boot partition is also fairly standard).

Not sayin' that's it, but it's very possible that there is something unusual about your partitioning and it's actually crashing the system.

Before trying another installer, I would definitely try it without the RAID, just to be sure.

Having exactly the same problem. Tried 4.0.3 64 bit preload and iso on three different core i 5 machines with single SATA drive. Was trying a cluster installtion. Tomorrow I will try 32 bit version of it in another pc.

What about your partitioning? Did you use the recommended or "design your own"?

Thank you William. Just a fresh installation on brand new hard disks using recommended partitions "Create swap volume /dev/sda1" and "Create root volume /dev/sda2". Used Partition Logic to erase the partitions and data from hard disks for re-installation when first one failed because "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512" is hell of a command. You never know how long it will take. Getting same error on every installations on every machine.

Hm. We have not done any installs today but we've installed with Vicibox 4.0.3 many times with no problems. Have you MD5 verified the .iso image before burn and again after burn (MD5 check the CD ...)?

I have noticed that the error message “/tmp/rootcron":44: premature EOF “ while selecting the database only installation and not getting the error when I select the all in one (database + Web+ Telephony ) installation.

i had not noticed earlier but this was in "support" instead of vicibox. moved! Now maybe Kumba will bump into it.

To correct your issue for the database you can do the following:

To load the database crontab do the following:
1) Login as root
2) cat /usr/src/astguiclient/conf/allcron > /tmp/rootcron
3) cat /usr/src/astguiclient/conf/dbcron >> /tmp/rootcron
4) echo "" >> /tmp/rootcron
5) crontab /tmp/rootcron

That will load the database crontab for the primary database server.

The second issue is that it seesm SuSE Studio has killed off OpenSuSE v.12.1. They used to keep the current maintained versions of OpenSuSE going but it seems they are only doing the last two. Since 12.2 has issues with CLI and Plymouth that means I am now working on ViciBox v.5.0 with OpenSuSE v.12.3. I'll have a posting about it shortly, but some of the more noteworthy improvement looks like a move to Asterisk v.1.8.

you should post the offending line from the offending script. it may be a hint

* Does it means the warning that is related to the LSB is normal thing and I should not worry about it?

During the installation, I got:

And while the machine is booting, I am getting:

Failed to start LSB: vicidial call center suit

I am afraid that it is a real problem and requires to be fixed, otherwise I will face a future problems when moving live.

That is a typical error involving the way SuSE Studio was written. You can safely ignore the errors about the missing LSB tags.
