Timezone Calling

Postby roundqube » Wed Nov 11, 2009 5:26 pm

If I have my campaign to run from 9a-9pm and I'm in EST timezone. Let's say I log into it at 9am but its 6am in PST. Will the dialer look up area codes before dialing to make sure they are within the 9am-9pm window? I just want to make sure at 9am it will only call EST timezone numbers then at 10am it will only calls CST and EST, then at 11am it can call the entire country.

Similarly, to the 9pm scenario. Will it continue dialing PST until Midnight EST?

If your system is properly configured and you are loading leads properly, then yes, the call time scheme that you choose will only dial during the LOCAL call time where the lead is from, no matter where the server or agents are located.

What do you mean properly configured? Is there a specific setting? We just followed the SCRATCH INSTALL instructions.

So the system does look up area codes?

If Linux is set to your time zone, if the servers and phones in ViciDial are set to their proper time zone, if the leads are loaded with a proper phone_code(1 = USA/Canada, 44 = UK, etc...) then yes it will look up the timezone by country code (and areacode in the USA/Mexico/Canada) by default.

I have my timezone setup properly in Linux:
[root@snip ~]# date
Mon Nov 23 10:09:25 EST 2009

I also have the timezone setup correctly in Vicidial + the campaigns:
GMT -5 since I'm on the east cost

Local GMT - 5 (in campaign).

Yet this morning at 930am, we had the dialer call a California number (630am PST). We had two agents where the dialer called the west coast. I have the campaign set to 9am - 9pm calling times.

Also, I just loaded a new list with phone code 1 and checked all my GMT is set to -5 correctly.

I then use Navicat to browse through the list table (list 200 in this case) and I see gmt_offset_now set to -5 for more than 95% of the entries. I even looked up the area code for some of those numbers and they are pacific but for some reason Vicidial did not properly set the GMT for these phones after loading leads.

Are you setting time zone by areacode or postal code?

How do I check this setting if its by area code or postal code? I'm not certain. I'd like to set it by area code.

I am running the crontab script:

### adjust the GMT offset for the leads in the vicidial_list table
1 1,7 * * * /usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_adjust_GMTnow_on_leads.pl --debug

If that helps. I've also manually run one time with no resolution:
/usr/share/astguiclient/ADMIN_adjust_GMTnow_on_leads.pl --postal-code-gmt

You've got some interesting states there.

respond back with results of these queries:

select count(*),left(phone_number,3) as areacode from vicidial_list where gmt_offset_now='-5.00' and state='AZ' group by areacode;

select count(*) from vicidial_phone_codes;

Looks like running the ADMIN area code repopulation script might have fixed it. I'll let you know.

1) Welcome to the Party! 8-)

2) As you are obviously new here, I have some suggestions to help us all help you:

When you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method (7.X.X?) and vicidial version with build (VERSION: 2.X-XXXx ... BUILD: #####-####).

This IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "manual/from scratch" you must post your operating system with version (and the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system) plus a link to the installation instructions you used. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) You may want to share some more of your campaign settings related to list management. List everything from Dial Statuses to Lead Filter (any of which can have an effect). Likely you'll find your problem in there somewhere, but if not, post these and we may ask some followup questions based on the results.
