Enable Whisper

Hello,

We know how to MONITOR and BARGE calls, we'd like to have the ability to WHISPER calls (so only the agent can hear us). We're looking for someone who can go into our system and modify it to enable whisper. This is a change we need very soon.

Please let us know what price and timeframe you require to make this happen.

Thanks,
Ricky

As per me there is no option for whisper mode in vicidial you have to configure this through asterisk. if you have knowlage about astrisk you can do easily. search "chanspy " in google and it will help you how to configure. or

contact me :

skype and gmail : krishnakeshwar

I will configure whisper mode or guide you how to operate that ...

We have modified "barge" to be "whisper" instead for a couple clients. less obtrusive (ok: less expensive!) than adding a 3rd option for whisper. we originally did this to offer the clients the possibility to whisper without spending a lot of $$, and expected that if they liked it they would pay to have the 3rd option added eventually. however, so far no customers have chosen to make that change. either they are happy with whisper, or they just don't use it enough to pay for a monitor/barge/whisper ... or perhaps they did not like the whisper function. but it is fairly easy to modify the barge function to become a whisper function as long as you have 1.4 asterisk available.

the vicidial group has reported segfault errors resulting from whisper, but we have not yet had any reports of this problem after the change.

We just added the whisper feature and share the code with the team here: http://www.vicidial.org/VICIDIALmantis/view.php?id=840
Notice, you will see a third option in the realtime to choose between: Listen, Barge or Whisper

Hi, thanks for contributing this code! A supervisor just told me he tried to use this new feature but it isn't working. Do we need to adjust a setting somewhere before it works?

We have already enabled this in system settings:

Enable Agent Whisper Monitoring

Using vicibox 7 with asterisk 11.

OK: then define "isn't working". Was there a whisper option on the page for each agent session? Did they push this button? Did ANYthing happen? ...

Tech support ... details ...

What do you mean by supervisor phone login?
I'm using my personal extension, i tried two actually one IAX2 and one SIP.
I'm logged in with my admin account, otherwise you can't even see the realtime report.

I'm on 2.12b0.5 SVN 2553.
Asterisk 11.22.0-vici

When i enter my extension into the realtime screen and choose whisper i get to see the LISTEN and WHISPER links for every agent. When i click whisper i get called and i can follow the conversation but the agent can't hear me. To verify i dialed my own phone from my extension, so the problem is not with my microphone.

verify the vicidial version in admin->servers is correct for the server(s) in question

are you trying to whisper on the same server as the agent's phone?

how about a wee bit of CLI output from an attempt ... any errors would be good to check on.

Enabling and disabling features is usually in the admin system settings. I'd have answered more directly had you actually avoided use of "current". hang your head in shame. Post your version!

Let me be clear here: Posting an image of your version number online (where search engines will now ignore it completely) puts you in the same category as some of my older clients who copy and paste web pages into Word documents before sending them to me instead of providing the URL. Many then expect us to extract an image from the pasted/flattened image in the word doc to generate content for printed documents or other web pages. If you don't know why that would be a challenge, suffice it to say it's not a good idea.

8-)

(Translation: You're makin' it worse! But it was a good chuckle, so thanks for that.)

oh ... sorry really, it won't happen again

i didn't realized that putting images will make it worse ... so next time, i can assusre that it will only be the link instead of images.

once again, my apology

P.S. hope you can somehow enlighten me of my inquiry

1) Welcome to the Party! 8-)

2) As you are obviously new here, I have some suggestions to help us all help you:

When you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method (7.X.X?) and vicidial version with build (VERSION: 2.X-XXXx ... BUILD: #####-####).

This IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)

You should also post: Asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box. If your installation method is "manual/from scratch" you must post your operating system with version (and the .iso version from which you installed your original operating system) plus a link to the installation instructions you used. If your installation is "Hosted" list the site name of the host.

If this is a "Cloud" or "Virtual" server, please note the technology involved along with the version of that techology (ie: VMware Server Version 2.0.2). If it is not, merely stating the Motherboard model # and CPU would be helpful.

Similar to This:

Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X-XXX Build XXXXXX-XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation | Intel DG35EC | Core2Quad Q6600

3) This Forum site is split into separate "Boards". Each has its own purpose. Each also has its own "sticky" post(s) at the top you should READ before posting in that particular board (IE: Rules!). But make no mistake, as long as you are actually here for help with Vicidial and don't expect to be spoon-fed, we will help you. 8-)
