H323 Gateway

Hello Community,

I've got a H.323 Gateway with free Channels to PSTN. I would like to use the channels with VICIDIAL.
I could use SIP for the Clients, no problem. But how can I use my H.323 channels to PSTN? Can I convert them to SIP in any way?

Unfortunately I'm not able to buy other gateways ot PSTN Channels.

Regards,
Marc.

Currently VICIDIAL does not support H323, mostly because I cannot test it since I have no H323 hardware, but also because H323 is not as uniform or as robust as SIP or IAX within Asterisk.

BUT, most carriers use H.323 for Call Handling. Without H.323 professionell use in shared carrier environments is not possible :-(

I would test H.323 functionality with Mediant Gateway Hardware if you are interested in implementing this.

Or alternativley: Are there ways to convert sip to h.323.

What country are you located in? in USA/Canada almost no carriers use H323, and if they do it is supplemental to SIP.

What H323 module are you using with Asterisk?

How do H323 channels show up in Asterisk CLI "show channels"

I'm in Germany...

As this is a "new" installation we could use every H.323 Module...tell me which one we should use. I think it does not matter which module I use to connect to the mediant Gateways.

Hello Everybody,

Does Vicidial Support the H323 channels protocol now?

Thank you in advance.

are you able to make and/or receive calls in asterisk with them? (if it doesn't work in asterisk, it won't work in vicidial)

Hello William,

we need to increase the number of lines that we have with our local telecom provider, but they are offering us h.323 and we have never used before.
We read in this link http://fonality.com/trixbox/node/25242 that somebody was able to use it with asterisk, but we want your opinions, because our provider don't allow us to test and we must sign up to 1 year contract.

Thank you.

this is an asterisk question. find an asterisk user who is presently using it with your version of asterisk (1.2 or 1.4 if you don't have a version yet).

once it works in asterisk, we can tackle vicidial. but if you cannot find anyone who is using it in asterisk on an asterisk forum, i don't give it good odds.

H323 Trunks

I am currently using SIP phones and H323 Inbound/Outbound trunks with Asterisk 1.4.21. This works fine.

However, I can't seem to get Vicidial to dial out. Vicidial is aware of the inbound call, but does not pop the agent screen nor am I able to hangup the call thru Vicidial. I have to hangup using the phone SIP.

Samir:

when you post, please post your entire configuration including (but not limited to) your installation method and OS with kernel or version, vicidial version and build, asterisk version, telephony hardware (model number is helpful here), cluster information if you have one, and whether any other software is installed in the box.

Similar to This:
Vicibox X.X from .iso | Vicidial X.X.X Build XXXX | Asterisk X.X.X | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation

this IS a requirement for posting along with reading the stickies (at the top of each forum) and the manager's manual (available on EFLO.net, both free and paid versions)
____

Have you gotten vicidial working with standard sip lines or in any other way to be sure you at least have the concept of vicidial down?

have you followed any tutorial on how to set up your first campaign in vicidial?

Vicidial 2.2.0-236 Build 100413-2328 | Asterisk 1.4.35 | Single Server | No Digium/Sangoma Hardware | No Extra Software After Installation

I setup my campaign from the instructions provided in the Scratch install documentation.

Samir, here is my problem:
I can't seem to get Vicidial to dial out. Vicidial is aware of the inbound call, but does not pop the agent screen nor am I able to hangup the call thru Vicidial. I have to hangup using the phone SIP.
1) if you are trying to get vicidial to "dial out", I do not understand the reference to "the inbound call" that vicidial is "aware" of. You lost me there.
2) I do not know why you are expecting a screen to "pop"
3) If you cannot get vicidial to "dial out", how is there a call to "hang up" that you CAN hang up with SIP?

which leads me back to:

Have you gotten vicidial working with standard sip lines or in any other way to be sure you at least have the concept of vicidial down?

have you followed any tutorial on how to set up your first campaign in vicidial?

I should elaborate. Concerning Outbound dialing I have no success with Vicidial. I mentioned the Inbound call hoping that it would provide a clue to the Outbound issue.

Note: None of the Vicidial buttons function properly while using either web client: vicidial.php or astguiclient.php

Samir,

so here's what we have:

    Vicidial buttons "don't function properly"

    Vicidial doesn't dial out

    You installed vicidial manually

That's not a whole lot to go on ... really.

Now ... you say you installed it, but you do not note any "errors" or where you stopped.

You did not answer whether you had followed any tutorial on how to set up your first campaign.

We'll need a place to "begin" to get your system operational.

I'd prefer to start with an .iso installation, which makes all the "installation" items standard. No need to guess what is and isn't installed (or installed properly).

Is an .iso installation possible? (VicidialNOW is CentOS, Vicibox 1.0 is Ubuntu, Vicibox Redux 2.0 and later is OpenSUSE ...)

Sure. I will attempt ViciNOW and respond with results.

i would recommend vicibox (presently in version 3.0.9). Very recent release, very stable installation UNLESS you need CentOS, in which case I would recommend GoAutoDial (the UPGRADED version of VicidialNOW.)

    HI.
Where can I download the source files used in the Asterix1.8.23.0-1_centos5.go (x86_64) GoAutoDial CE 3.3, in an attempt to connect the H323? I'm trying to add H323 as described in article http://asterisk.ru/knowledgebase/asterisk-h323

    Thank you.
