Hardware requirements- post your setup

Postby okli » Sun Feb 01, 2009 3:14 pm

I thought it might be helpful for those, who need to calculate their hardware requirements, to have a thread, where we post what's been put into production.
Here is our setup:

Multi-server install, load balanced

Server 1- Asterisk:
Model: Dell 1850
CPU: 2 x Xeon 3.0 GHz HT 1MB cache, single core
RAM: 2GB
Hard disks: 2 x 36GB 15k SCSI in software RAID 1
OS: Debian 4.0
Kernel: 2.6.18-6-amd64
Asterisk: 1.2.30.2
Codec: gsm
Transcoding: gsm->ulaw
Trunk: IAX

Server 2- MySQL + Apache + Asterisk:
Model: HP Polliant 320 G5
CPU: 1 x Xeon X3210 @ 2.13GHz, 4 x 1MB cache, quad core
RAM: 2GB
Hard disks: 2 x 160GB 7.2k SATA in software RAID 1
OS: Debian 4.0
Kernel: 2.6.18-6-amd64
MySQL/Apache/PHP: 5.0.32/2.2.3/5.2.0
Asterisk: 1.2.30.2
Codec: gsm
Transcoding: gsm->ulaw
Trunk: IAX

With 30 agents on server 1 and 10 on 2, when dialing at max loadavg on server 1 is around 2 with spikes to 3.some, server 2 is around 1.2-1.4, probably could accommodate at least another 10-15 agents on server 2.

Shortly will move the database/web to a new server with SAS disks and controller for total around 70 agents.

Thanks for posting your setup!

system scaling os so difficult because everybody has different campaign requirements and different hardware availability, postings like these really help.
