Hello everyone,

We have been using viciphone on our local server since it came out. up till aug 2nd Firefox version 60.4.0 esr from frontmotion worked flawlessly. on Monday Aug 5th we came in and the agents would login and make their first call. after they hung up or dispo'd the mic icon would disappear. Then no customer could hear them. The system mic was still working at this time. To start the mic up again they would need to log of and log back in. I worked with vicidial on this issue and the were not able to replicate it. Through testing i have found that the only version of Firefox that works is 45.7.0 esr . chrome also works with the viciphone with no issues. I have looked through the logs and can't find an key point as to why firefox would have an issue. I have even tried to most current on that came out 2 days ago version 68.0.2 standard version. it failed like all of the quantum versions from what i have seen.


Any one experienced this or have any suggestions?


I have also created a fresh install test dialer to see if something in our cluster may have had an issue and it also acted the same way. i have also remotely login from off site and had the same issue dialing on the test server from off site on a linux Ubuntu 19.04 install with Firefox 68.0.1

dump your firefox preference and search/replace or whatever you have to do to get one preference per line ... for both a working and not working version of firefox.

then diff against a working / not working comparison set.

i bet you find something that explains it.

if there are two versions Very Close to each other and one works but the other doesn't, the differences between those two versions should be minimal, but it's possible they changed a "default" value to NO instead of YES and locked out something.

I have exhausted version trial and found that the only firefox that works is 45 esr. anything newer seems to make the mic permissions disappear. i have even isolated this to a new install of vicibox 8 and the same issues still happens.

Try it on Vicibox 9 yet for fun?

Did you try something like this to see if there's a visible explanation? It could very well be an undocumented easily altered preference that they merely updated to a new value "by default" ...

Ya not only did i dump preferences but i removed all stored data to the user profile for firefox.

OK further detail on this. I have loaded a test dialer on the lasted verison of 9.0.0 iso off the website. this box was outside any of our firewalls and off of our switches so it was completely isolated on the outside of our network(spectrum). i have also setup a windows 7 machine externally on a separate network (frontier). i used my cell phone a a dial instance and it calls i answer and then hang up. on hang up just about the time the dispo screen comes up the mic symbol in the middle of the upper screen disappears. the only error i see in the console is this.
