Difference between Asterisk and Vicidial

Postby shan » Thu Dec 28, 2017 5:04 am

Dear all,

I'm a newbie for Vicidial. I want to ask the differences between the asterisk which runs by "service asterisk restart" and the asterisk which runs through vicidial via screen with command asterisk -vvvgc. What problems will it create if we execute "service asterisk restart" on a vicidial system with running calls and agents login? Is the vicidial asterisk customized?

If you restart asterisk while there are live calls, the calls will all hang up.

Well, i figured it out after testing on a VMware workstation, and i came to conclusion:

"By executing command “service asterisk start/restart”, it kills the vicidial asterisk daemon which was running through screen. The new asterisk daemon which will start, is not a child process of Vicidial".
