Right now we are in the middle of writing online php based collection software. We are planning on doing native integration for vicidial. Would anyone here have an interest in this for their clients or themselves?

If it's open source and free, of course. If not ... well, there's a lot of that goin around. LOL

And if you don't Specify that it's open-source and free ... how would someone know to answer?

It is in fact most Likely to be open source. I haven't been able to find anything that does debt collection/account management in the open source arena. That said, this will most likely be open source.

I am trying to figure out though what kind of need there is and what people would be looking for.

We have had dozens of clients that have done debt collection over the years. Most of them were bought by larger debt collection companies and are no longer operating, the others all either use very expensive proprietary debt collection software or they wrote their own. All that I know from my exposure to these debt collection software packages is that it can be very complex and often has to be customized for the specific type of debt being collected and the payment methods that are accepted.

I'm sure you're trying to answer the question: But please remember that software either *is* or *is not* open source. There will be an audience for Open Source (filled mostly with lurkers) and very likely no audience otherwise. If you can't say "Yes! It'll be open source!" the audience is not likely here on this forum. And it should also be noted whether it's FREE. Note that (once again) Free has a likely audience size ... Paid "not so much", LOL.

Based on the previous conversation, it either died or the source isn't open and the proprietary-software writer has no intention of assisting his competition. Which is quite common in this industry. In fact, that was the case with Dialers until Vicidial came along.

If you want open source, free, Debt Collection Software ... you'll need to contribute to it's creation and/or maintenance. We've bumped into a few pieces here and there, but nothing well done enough to assemble a fully functional package without a lot of coding.

aahhh.. thank you so much! Yes, we are looking for an open-source one that we could use. I came across "Compass Collections Manager" in one of the discussions here but did not find any other details about it. Are you familiar with it?

I think we performed a sandbox install of that a few years ago. Very limited, but open source. Possible place to Start. Note that their only release is ... 10 years old.
