During the course of trouble shooting an issue I cam accross something strange.
On a single server install of vicibox7 i have noticed that asterisk continues running even though the service shows that it has been stopped.

localhost:/home/user # service asterisk status
● asterisk.service - Asterisk PBX
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/asterisk.service; disabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: inactive (dead)
How could that be? Even if the service is stopped I am still able to access the asterisk CLI (asterisk -rvvvvv) and it does not seem to have any effect on the system.

Could it perhaps be running as part of the vicidial service.
The reason I need to know is because I need to write a script that checks the status of asterisk periodically and sends an email if it is down.
